Oops! - N — Grill Meal — Cut Veggies — Black + Ramen Bowl: O. The sun was out...

We came to the desert looking for interesting weather and we found it. The temperature up here was under 40 degrees and the wind was over 50 mph. I didn't have a sandbag hook with me so the tripod kept blowing over. When we got back down to the desert floor, we found out what was going on down there: sleet and hail. Shooting was brief but sweet today. Hooked Portion of a manufactured shawl sweater, with part of a stitched logo. The original frame was 40mm 1. The frame was also cropped a little... Extension tubes were used to get my lens into macro territory, furthermore, 300mm FL was used to get me a little more DOF and allow for the on camera flash to light the subject. Photograph was taken and edited on March 26, 2017. Thanks for stopping by! Yesterday I had the pleasure of helping hang my first large and first acrylic print at a newly built funeral chapel in my home town. A big thanks goes to one of my clients for coordinating and doing most of the footwork making this print happen. She was hired to do the decorating at the new building and being a huge fan of my work was able to sell the chapel in purchasing one of my pieces. The photo is located at the end of the main entrance hall way just before you enter the large banquet room. The colours in the print work perfectly with the décor. Unfortunate the print got lost in shipping and it wasn't in in time for the grand opening earlier this month. I think someone with the transit company saw the print and tried to steal it. It had been opened when it arrived and the transit company is doing an investigation into it. After a few scheduling challenges we were finally able to get it up. I must say, seeing one of your prints on acrylic at this size is something else. The printer did a great job on the print. It looks incredible on acrylic. I think I may be hooked! I am proud that a local company has chosen to support a local artist—me in this case—and I hope this photo will help provide some comfort to those in a time of grievance. About the photo: The photo was taken in 2012 at Tulabi Falls in Nopiming Provincial Park in Manitoba. A favourtite place mine for fall photography. This is rare sunrise shot from me. I slept, well tried to sleep, in car for the night so I could be there for sunrise. This best light is morning light at Tulabi. If I didn't have to stay the night to catch a sunrise here I'd probably go back more to shoot in the mornings. This particular trip was bitter sweet for me. This was my first time in Nopiming and was instantly in love! The idiot me told the client I would start working on the photos the next day which was a Sunday and I did. I had decided the following weekend I would go back and photograph the incredible autumn colours. Well, all that week it was gusting winds and by the time I got back the next weekend 99. I totally missed out. That one really bothered me. So all of the next year I couldn't wait to get back there and get those fall colours. I had a great first day shooting, slept in my car and got up before sunrise to shoot some more. After photographing a beautiful morning sunrise and on my way back to the car the tripod I was using at the time lost tightness on the base plate and my camera with filters fell 8ft to the ground completely destroying my 10-22 lens. Luckily nothing else was broken on top of that. It was NOT the way I wanted to start off being self employed by having to dump a bunch of money on a new lens. I was planning to shoot all day but instead I was racing to the big city to buy a new lens as I had client shoots the following day. Fast forward another year to the fall of 2012 and I decided to give another 2 day trip a go. This time, no smashed lenses thank goodness. Just some beautiful light and no one around to bother me! I go back every fall now to this place. It is my nemesis around here! Link to photo displayed above: Comments greatly appreciated! Comments with logos only will be deleted. Took a day off this week to head up to Kettle Moraine Park in Wisconsin to do some mountain biking. The sun was out... Stumbled literally upon this little fence in the middle of the whole park. It's good to play hookie now and then!!! Have a great weekend!!!! I'm NOT playing hookie today... We call him that because of the drop horn you can see here. Had not seen this guy for a long time and found him 2 days in a row. He was laying down in a shaded area when we found him. With the low sun angle it took a couple hours to get light on him. Even after he was in the sun it took 30 minutes more for him to get up and browse about. After 10 minutes he moved back into deep shade. He is such a beauty. Monday Morning Funny - because Monday Mornings are NOT funny... LOL I decided to have a luau themed Mother's Day don't ask why.. I have no clue.. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day... I'll be back later.. I'm still going to attempt to work! Once hooked on alcohol or drugs or both, the disease of addiction has only one goal and that is to rip your life apart on all levels, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. I have been around and involved with the field of recovery and twelfth step recovery groups for a little over 25 years. During that period of time I have seen the devastation that these addictions can cause. I am posting this tonight for just recently I have learned of another victim of this disease. A young woman whose parents I have known since she was knee high to me is hooked on this disease and the husband and wife have divorced each blaming the other for what has happened to their daughter and then the daughter being kicked out the house because of where this disease has her and is taking her life. Lower and lower, and it will not be long before another prison stay will happen or she will be found somewhere dead, for those are the eventual consequences of these diseases..... Locked Up, Or Covered Up. A big reason for posting this is the frustration and resentment that I have for this disease and the lives it claims. My hopes, are that someone out there may well see this image and may identify with the image and wake up enough to seek help or a friend will see and give the information to a suffering drunk or addict or both.. There is help and hope out there for the people suffering from these diseases. That help is only a phone call away or a click off the mouse. The information is located for two of these addictions at the following sites: for Alcoholics Anonymous. Or a phone call to information will give you the numbers for Central Offices located within the state you live in. Make that call or click the mouse and contact them, YOU ARE WORTH IT AND YOUR LOVED ONES ARE WORTH IT! Love and peace, ONE DAY AT A TIME! Around a week ago, I went outside after a heavy rain. This lady was dangling from a thread or two, legs drooping straight at the ground. I thought she was gone. But decided to experiment. Using a thin bamboo pole, I gently lifted her until one of her legs touched the remnants of her once glorious web. To my surprise, she hooked the tip of her leg into the web. A second try raised her enough to get two legs in place. That was all I needed do. I knew she was alive and would not fall eight feet to her death. As you see, she is healthy and her home repaired. Remember, no matter how trivial what you do may seem, it is most important that you do it.
